Civil War RAFT - my roles during this war

hey guys! Today, I will be writing a friendly letter as if I as woman working in the Union at the time of the Civil War.

Dear my beloved William,

Today was eventful. But isn't everyday during this never-ending war?

I continue to do my usual house work. Y'all know, the boundless window washing and tedious job of sweeping the porch. That is when I am not collecting crucial information on the sites of the battlefields.

I just recently traveled to some of the smaller towns down yonder in Virginia. I was able to gather lots of information in Richmond.

How are y'all doing? I hope all is well. I do miss you.
Also, do make sure to say hello to Walter, his wife told me to ask you.

Write soon.

Sincerely,
Margaret

being a witness

hey guys!

What does being a witness mean to you?

Being a witness to me, means that you are able to watch something occur. However, a witness can either describe someone in a good way or in a bad way. A witness can also be known as a by-stander, someone who watches the situation play-out, yet doesn't make a move to stop it from happening. Nonetheless, a witness can also be used to describe someone who watched an incident and stood up for what they believed was right.

outside reading 2: "sixty acres"

The protagonist, Lee Waite, in the short story "Sixty Acres" is faced with making two important decisions. The first crucial decision Lee Waite is faced with is whether or not he should investigate the current situation, unwanted hunters, on his property. The second decision he is faced with is, during the situation, how should he treat the hunters after they have broken the law.

After Lee Waite, makes up his mind on what to do, his final decisions reveal parts of his true identity. It illustrates that he is protective, caring, and thoughtful. His protectiveness is shown when he risks his live to save his family, by deciding to search for the unwelcomed hunters on the outskirts of his property.  However, his thoughtfulness and kindness is displayed when he decides to let the young, innocent hunters off with a warning.

A personal decision that I have been pondering for a while now, and I've just recently made up my mind about, is where I will be attending high school next year. I had many options to choose from, but I was finally able to narrow it down to one school, the one that I know I will be able to do my best, both academically and socially. The school that I have chosen to attend, reveals my identity by showing my interests and where I feel like I will fit in.

am i a "child of the west"?

    hey guys!

yes, I do identify as a "child of the west." When I think of a "child of the west", I imagine a person who feels connected to the west coast, a place where life is easy-going and everyone is able to be their own person.

    • I am a "child of the west" because I truly enjoy living my life on the west coast of the United States. My life in California is very chill, and I really like being able to feel connected to everyone in some way.
    • I am a "child of the west" because I have lived in the city of Santa Barbara on the coast of California my entire life. It is the place that I call "home" and this city holds all of my memories

    this is me

    hey guys!

On the front of my identity mask there are five guitar picks on the forehead. The pick on the far left is the first guitar pick that I ever bought. It ignited my love for music. The music note that is on the tip of the nose displays that my strong passion music is the first trait that people discover about me. In the middle of the face is a pair of black sunglasses. This shows that I feel more confident behind a pair of sunglasses. On the bottom of the mask, the words 'Santa Barbara' are spelled out, letter by letter. This shows that Santa Barbara has been my home for my entire life, it is the place that I grew up and it holds all of my precious memories.

There is not a lot on the back of my identity mask because there truly isn't a lot that most people don't know about me. However, there is a symbol to represent my zodiac sign: Scorpio. Most people wouldn't know that I genuinely enjoy learning about the characteristics that makes up a Scorpio, the characteristics that make up me. There is also two parts of a wristband, in both hot pink and bright blue, that say awkward. Most people do know that I am in a rock band named awkward, however most people don't know that I am an awkward person, but, naturally, I embrace it. There are three dots of different sizes, and this represents that I am passionate about everything I do, but I dedicate and devote myself differently for each specific element. There are two small hearts, red and yellow, on the left side of the back of my mask. This displays that I love and care about my friends and family.
